Day Seventeen
Day 17 was devoted to Grand Teton National Park. The morning found us on the road to Jenny Lake. This is a clear mountain glacier lake. We arrived around 8 am. (got the kids up early to avoid the crowds, and it paid off) and were on the boat with only a few other tourists. The Rangers went into detail about where the last bear sightings had been but assured us if we followed these trails we should be ok. Julie was not completely sold. There are lots of warning signs for bears..everywhere. The ride across the lake allowed us to really take in the Grand Teton Mountains and the size and scale of the peaks. ON the other side, we chose the trail to hidden falls. It was well worth the short walk, have some good pictures. After a little more walking we headed back across the lake and to the visitor center that explained the creation of the mountain range. Back in the RV we headed north over signal mountain and to Jackson Lake. We stopped at the Jackson Lake Lodge, one of the original lodges and the view from its back windows was incredible. We had lunch and toured around the lake. The lodge is also famous for several international conferences including the one between James Baker and Eduard Shevardnaze that lead to the agreement between Reagan and Gorbachev. We returned to Jackson to take in a few sites and returned late that afternoon to the condo. Another good day.
Last One, Catherine chasing the steer. He was a quick one.
